Design and application notes

UCODE 9 UHF RFID Inlay, 50 × 30 mm is a passive UHF RFID inlay for the 860–960 MHz RAIN RFID band. It pairs the NXP UCODE 9 chip with a 50 × 30 mm dipole antenna, a common footprint for hang tags, retail labels and general item tagging.

NXP UCODE 9 provides 96-bit EPC (pre-serialization supported), 96-bit TID with a 48-bit unique serial number, no user memory. NXP specifies a read sensitivity of up to −24 dBm and a write sensitivity of up to −22 dBm for the bare chip; the range of the finished tag also depends on the antenna, the reader and the tagged material. Datasheet highlights: Self-Adjust auto-tuning, Memory Safeguard data integrity, dynamic backscatter and a pre-serialized 96-bit EPC; works with single-slit antennas.

Our reference figure for this design is up to 18 m (lab reference, fixed reader). Range depends on the reader, antenna, power and tagged material; test samples in your own setup before you commit to volume.

It is typically used for apparel hang tags, care labels and price tickets. The application pages below give chip and size recommendations for each industry.

Order it as a dry inlay for your own converting, a wet inlay with adhesive and liner, or a finished label, blank or printed and EPC-encoded. We ship samples first so you can validate on your own items and readers, then quote the format you tested.

Order in the format you need

Confirm the construction and encoding during sampling, then quote the configuration you validated.

  • Dry inlay

Chip and antenna on a PET carrier without adhesive, for your own converting, hang tags or lamination.

  • Wet inlay

The same inlay with pressure-sensitive adhesive on a liner, applied like a sticker.

  • Label

Paper or synthetic face stock over the inlay, blank or printed, ready for RFID printers.

  • Custom

Other label sizes, face stocks, adhesives, printing, encoding and roll formats on request.

How ordering works

  1. 01

    Specify

Share surface, read distance, chip preference and volume. We shortlist tags that fit.

  2. 02

    Sample

Receive sample tags of the shortlisted designs to try in your own setup.

  3. 03

    Validate

Test on your items, readers and printers. We adjust chip, size or format if needed.

  4. 04

    Produce & ship

Volume production with 100% inline electrical test, then export shipping.

Frequently asked questions

Can I order the AZ-U9-50X30 as a wet inlay or a printed label?

Yes. The same chip and antenna are available as a dry inlay (no adhesive), a wet inlay (adhesive on a liner) or a label with paper or synthetic face stock, blank or printed. EPC encoding and custom label sizes are quoted on request; see custom tags.

What read range will I get with the AZ-U9-50X30?

Our reference value is up to 18 m (lab reference, fixed reader). Real-world range depends on the reader, antenna, power and the tagged material, so we recommend testing samples in your setup.
